AAZZUR was one of the few start-ups to make it into the finals of this year’s Walk The Plank pitch competition at Pirate Summit 2019.
The event is Europe’s largest invitation-only conference for early-stage start-ups, corporate executives and investors and this year was held at the art and events venue Odonien in Cologne, Germany.
CFO Martin Damaske delivered AAZZUR’s pitch about how the Berlin-based company is creating an inclusive and open financial platform that aims to make managing personal finances easier by connecting customers to a range of innovative fintech solutions through an integrated marketplace.
AAZZUR was pipped to the post by data-driven climate change action platform Plan A, an absolutely up to date concept in these times. Martin was delighted to make it through to the final against the very strong competition of 63 startups in total.
“It was a great honour to attend this particularly vibrant event in Cologne,” said Martin. “I had an arrr-some time representing AAZZUR in front of a group of such prestigious companies and investors. It really is a great event, super cool place and a fantastic opportunity to connect with others in the industry, not to mention a lot of fun.”
More than a thousand participants were expected to attend Pirate Summit, with over 250 investors also joining the three-day programme that included masterclasses, clinics and keynote speeches. Speakers at this year’s Pirate Summit included Bracken Darrell, CEO of Logitech; Genna Elvin, co-founder of Tadaweb, and Frank Thelen, founder and CEO Freigeist Capital.
Founded in 2010, the Pirate Summit targets people who want to create something meaningful at their own pace, around founders. This year’s overarching theme was #intheblack with the central theme that being profitable should be cool and celebrated. To find out more, visit the Pirate Summit website.
